is an Associate Professor of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Texas at Dallas. He is the author of The Mapping of Power in Renaissance Italy (Cambridge University Press, 2015) and the former President of the Italian Art Society. His current research concerns the nexus of art, surveying, measurement, and data gathering that comprised the early modern bird’s-eye view.
