I have noticed small faces serving as the brace-brackets in the right-hand page
Also, are the crosses in the right margin of the left-hand page the signatures of the parties involved?

That’s what we noticed as well! The crosses are not signatures, but some sort of system of notation. More to come in the next Collation post.
