Where the First Folio tour went in October: Highlights from Alabama, Minnesota, New Jersey, Utah, Virginia, and Washington DC

“To see or not to see… is there really any question?” Excited selfies with the First Folio continue to crop up on social media as the Folger’s nationwide tour, First Folio! The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare, wraps up its final months on the road.

In October the First Folio tour traveled to the following places:

  • Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, Montgomery, AL
  • University of Minnesota Duluth, Duluth, MN
  • Drew University and The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Madison, NJ
  • Salt Lake City Public Library, Salt Lake City, UT
  • University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA
  • Gallaudet University, Washington, DC

Gallaudet University in Washington, DC, is the world’s only university designed to be barrier-free for deaf and hard of hearing students. To accompany the First Folio, the university created a special exhibition, “Eyes on Shakespeare,” about Shakespeare and sign language, celebrating the unique contributions deaf theater artists have made to Shakespeare performance. Listen to an interview with Jill Bradbury, one of the exhibition curators, on the Folger’s Shakespeare Unlimited podcast.
