Shakespeare Championships

A bracket for your favorite Shakespeare plays

Welcome to the Shakespeare Championships bracket!

Can the melancholy Dane beat the wild Prince Hal? Can the Capulets and Montagues put aside their differences long enough to defeat Pericles, a general from the Golden Age of Athens? Now is your chance to decide! As our own form of March Madness (or maybe just madness in general), we’re running a bracket of your favorite plays.*

Voting takes place on our Instagram stories and the bracket will be updated here.

Voting on the first four match-up begins March 17. The Shakespeare Championships run through March 27. You can download the bracket part 1 and bracket part 2 to follow along.

* The top 32 Shakespeare plays were chosen and seeded based on their engagement rates on the Folger website.

Update March 23: The first round of the bracket has concluded and the next begins! In the second week of the Shakespeare Championships March Madness Bracket, things are getting tense.  Will the lovers of Romeo & Juliet beat the fighters of Macbeth? Will the Danish royals of Hamlet dominate the warring fairy royals of Midsummer?! Head to our Instagram stories to vote in this round!

Update March 27: It’s a final showdown between tragedy and comedy! 🎭 The results of our Shakespeare Championships March Madness bracket are in and it’s Hamlet vs. Much Ado About Nothing in the finals. Head to our Instagram stories to vote.
