Test of quotes

I need to check to see if quotes are educating properly. I notice that they educate correctly when “they are around regular text” but “become screwed up when next to italicized text“.

Apparently the problem is in the WordPress core, and doesn’t just affect double-quotes, but also single quotes. In other words, this is WordPress‘s problem.
