Folger Education Professional Development
Teachers, welcome to the new Folger!
In this virtual session, you’ll get a look at…
- Brand-new spaces to discover and explore at the Folger Shakespeare Library, like the Shakespeare Exhibition Hall and the Stuart and Mimi Rose Rare Book and Manuscript Exhibition Hall. You’ll see all 82 First Folios in their new and amazing visible vault along with other seldom-seen items from the collection like Henry VIII’s schoolbook.
- A new poem written by Rita Dove on the occasion of the Folger’s reopening, an extraordinary installation created by artist Fred Wilson, and a working printing press built from instructions in Mechanic Exercises: The Art of Printing, published in 1683.
- The “Fantastical World of William Shakespeare”, a map that features such geographies as The Isle of Tyrants (occupants: Macbeth, Richard III, and Coriolanus) and The Family Therapy Zone (Hamlet and father’s ghost, the Lear girls).
And more!
This session will be led by Dr. Peggy O’Brien, Director of Education at the Folger.
