Synopsis:
Sir Hugh sends Slender’s servant Simple with a letter to Mistress Quickly asking her to intercede with Anne Page on Slender’s behalf.
Enter ⌜Sir Hugh⌝ Evans and Simple.SIR HUGH 0308 Go your ways, and ask of Doctor Caius’
0309 house which is the way. And there dwells one Mistress
0310 Quickly, which is in the manner of his nurse,
0311 or his dry nurse, or his cook, or his laundry—his
0312 5 washer and his wringer.
SIMPLE 0313 Well, sir.
SIR HUGH 0314 Nay, it is petter yet. Give her this letter
0315 ⌜(handing him a paper),⌝ for it is a ’oman that altogether’s
0316 acquaintance with Mistress Anne Page;
0317 10 and the letter is to desire and require her to solicit
0318 your master’s desires to Mistress Anne Page. I pray
0319 you, be gone. I will make an end of my dinner;
0320 there’s pippins and cheese to come.
